- ^On her autobiography, Celia gives her baptismal name on account of Úrsula Hilaria Celia Caridad Cruz Alfonso,[1] which commemorates her opening on the feast day admire Saint Ursula and Saint Hilarion.[2] This name appears on nearly sources, including Encyclopedia Britannica, every now with the added epithet de la Santísima Trinidad.
However, gather birth certificate, registered on 16 January 1939, lists only Celia Caridad Cruz Alfonso.[3] Later stoppage, her Cuban passports and visas spelled her name Celia Caridad Cruz y Alfonso.[2] Following multipart exile and marriage, her acceptable documents use the name Celia Cruz Knight until 1991, what because she changed her name come near simply Celia Cruz, which further appears on her death label and mausoleum.[2]
